KIRKWOOD HOSTS ANNUAL HOME TOUR FIRST OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW EXCLUSIVE CUSTOM MOUNTAIN HOMES IN THE PALISADES
Event to Showcase Newest Addresses and Mountain Lifestyle at Intimate, Year-Round Destination Resort
(Kirkwood, Calif.)
Kirkwood Mountain Resort will host its fifth annual Home Tour opening the doors to its most private on-mountain community of luxury homes called The Palisades. Three subdivisions will be on tour including Juniper Ridge, East Meadows and The Palisades on Sunday, Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Current home owners and real estate specialists will be on hand to share their personal insights into the Kirkwood lifestyle and second home market.
The home tour will start in The Palisades with the most pristine views and located directly on the slopes of Kirkwood. Nestled between two high-speed quad chairlifts and two pedestrian friendly villages, The Palisades home sites are in high demand with only 6 lots left. Guests touring The Palisades will be served a light lunch and beverages from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Visit www.kirkwoodpalisades.com for more information.
From 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. the event continues with a tour of five contemporary homes set within the rugged backdrop of Kirkwood's East Meadows. Immediately following the home tour, there will be a complimentary reception with live entertainment near the East Meadows entrance from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Homebuyers seeking a respite from crowded and trendy destinations will find solace at Kirkwood. The year-round resort is set at 7,800 feet in a secluded box canyon surrounded by 10,000-foot mountains and national forest. Kirkwood's seclusion makes it attractive to those seeking an authentic resort community.
"With build-out guidelines in place, we are committed to the intimacy that makes Kirkwood unique," said Tim Cohee, President of Kirkwood Mountain Realty and Resort President for the past 13 years. "In fact, the percent of growth terrain is larger than the allowable number of residents."
The lifestyle at Kirkwood may be enjoyed with a variety of real estate options including custom home sites, single and multi-family residences, town homes and a private
residence club.
The upcoming ski season marks the resort's 35th anniversary. Over the years, resort operators have made a significant investment in creating memorable customer experiences. Most recently, the resort's strategically planned growth has included many on-mountain enhancements, including: $10 million in new chair lifts; $4 million in snowmaking operations; $4 million for infrastructure; and plans to make current hike-to terrain accessible via new chairlifts. The second-home lifestyle is complete with additional on-site restaurants, lodges, swimming pools, fitness centers, an ice-skating rink, entertainment and boutique retail shops.
Mother Nature continues to invest her own in Kirkwood with an annual average snowfall of more than 500 inches making it a winter enthusiast's paradise. Activities include alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, dog-sled rides, tubing hills, ice skating, ice fishing, and snowmobile tours. Its setting in the High Sierra also provides abundant spring, summer and fall pastimes include whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, swimming, boating as well as outdoor concerts, clinics and community barbecues.
Those attending the home tours are also invited to a complimentary reception featuring Amador County vintners pouring their wines, hors d'oeuvres and live music from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. where a Kirkwood season pass will be raffled. A $15 donation from attendees will benefit the Alpine Watershed toward the preservation of headwaters on the Carson, Mokelumne, Stanislaus, Truckee and American Rivers.
