Joan’s primary residence since 1995 has been Kirkwood where she is raising her two boys and enjoying a quality of life that is unsurpassed anywhere. "We like the solitude and the natural energy the mountains provide us,"she says.
She was raised in a military family that took her around the world to Spain, Virginia, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Washington D.C., Maryland, Turkey and Texas. Her father was a Commodore in the Navy who was a native of Sacramento and played first oboe in the San Francisco Symphony. That in part brought Joan to California, the destination for college and where she landed a career in the produce business for nearly 15 years. Joan and her husband owned their own business, Summit Marketing, shipping vegetables from the Salinas and San Joaquin valleys worldwide. This was very rewarding and instilled the importance of customer relations and understanding the world of entrepreneurs.
Alpine and cross-country skiing, skijouring, hiking, biking, kayaking and waterskiing are a few reasons that make her a true believer of this magical outdoor wonderland. Recognizing that Kirkwood provides all this summer and winter has led her to build a career around real estate in recent years. The quality outdoor life and the ambience of the homes Joan has to offer in Kirkwood with warm timber, magnificent stone designs, spectacular vistas and forever views make it so easy to sell real estate. She believes, "The best part about Kirkwood is the community and that it s small enough to know one another intimately."
